SRM Expert: Excelling in Your Supplier Programme
Built on State of Flux’s global SRM research, this expert-level course is designed for professionals who have completed SRM Advanced and are ready to deepen their supplier relationship management skills.
The programme focuses on two key themes: creating new value, and influence and communication. It helps participants apply more advanced SRM practices to strategic supplier relationships, with a stronger focus on value release, stakeholder engagement and practical relationship development.
Everything taught is grounded in practical application. Participants are supported by reference handbooks, tools and templates designed to help transfer learning back into day-to-day supplier management activity.
Format: 6 online modules delivered as 90-minute webinar sessions at weekly intervals.
Prerequisites: Participants must have completed the Core and Advanced SRM Modules before enrolling in the Expert Level Modules.

The fourteen-module curriculum provides a structured way to build supplier management capability, from core processes through to expert-level SRM practice.
Core Modules (1-4): Cover the foundations of supplier management, including the end-to-end supplier lifecycle from onboarding through to contract termination. This section also addresses the role of cross-business stakeholder engagement.
Advanced SRM Modules (5-8): Focus on strategic supplier relationships and value creation beyond the contract. Participants develop practical approaches for collaboration, innovation and supplier-led value.
Expert Level Modules (9-14): Build on the Core and Advanced modules with specialist content for experienced practitioners. Delivered as a webinar series, these modules focus on creating new value through strategic planning, influence and effective communication.
Each module is supported by a PDF reference handbook, shared before the session. The handbook includes the key visuals, notes, tools and templates covered in the training, giving participants a practical resource to revisit after the course.

The structure of effective communication
Examining the structure of persuasive conversations, introducing the pyramid principle for planning and developing dialogue, such as storytelling, sales pitches and associated influential behaviours.
Writing for results: influencing a busy reader
Exploring how to apply the techniques employed by professionals journalists in business to keep their readers attention, via the use of active language structures, audience-matched narratives, and formatting content for time-starved readers.
Presenting to executives
Covering how to structure presentations to deliver engaging executive briefings, handling push-back and objections, using effective questioning and reframing techniques that lead to a call to action.
Sustainability and the extended enterprise
Reviewing the three key forms of sustainability (environmental, social & diversity) as emerging forms of value, whilst also looking at how extended enterprise thinking can help open opportunities for strengthening supplier relationships.
Commercial value discovery through relationship insight
Examining and applying key areas of value discovery, looking at how 360-degree relationship assessments and voice of the suppliers can help drive the discovery and delivery of mutual commercial value.
Preparing for and running joint business planning workshops
Reviewing the step-by-step process of how to take joint business planning (also referred to as joint account planning) from concept to value delivery with your key and strategic suppliers.

Public courses for individuals: The Expert Level Modules are delivered as 6 x 90-minute webinar sessions at weekly intervals, giving participants a structured way to build specialist SRM capability alongside their existing role.
In-house courses for teams: These can be delivered online or in-person.
Prerequisites: Participants must have completed the Core and Advanced SRM Modules before enrolling in the Expert Level Modules.
Action learning: Each module uses action learning methods, with practical exercises and real supplier management scenarios built into the sessions. Participants also receive reference materials, tools and templates to support application after the course.
